Expectations
“Sabi nung iba that’s yung numbers with many exponents”
“Parang.. what is 299 like that.. ah okay..”

Honestly, I didn’t feel anything about this subject (only) at first. As – in! I haven’t felt any excitement nor 2 feet nervous for another surprising hard class. Ewan ko ba Pero la talaga.. Another thing.. I was surprised to learn na our teacher for this subject pa la is Ma’am Gallardo.. again.. again? But she was already our teacher in Computer Science last year and for this year and another class (again) for this year still? It’s not that I don’t like the way she teach, it is just a matter of developing yang sariling skills ko in understanding that certain topic. Anyways sasabihin ko siguro.. I may say na.. I am expecting more for in the few months, this subject is one of the things that I must be thankful of – being in Masci – other students from regular schools siguro, never heard pa ang permutation or probability – if I tossed a coin, di ba?

Aha
Binomial expansion.. this topic was already introduced to me before. Yes I know how to evaluate the square or the cube of the given binomial expansion but please.. stop there..

--“Di ko na kasi alam kung papano kapag nadagdagan na yung exponent”.. hek hek --

It was just easy pa la… the day this topic was taken up, I have never felt bored. Feel na feel ko pa ang pag-expand!

Eureka
Never pa akong nakadiscover ng alternative solution for a given problem in this class. But under this portion, I may include one of my achievements. I am not sure whether it was the first or second quiz where I was able to answer the questions correctly without any doubt. I was really very very happy that day. I was even pulling from my ride, my seatmate PJ. Correct answers were already being discussed on the board.

Another is the result of our summative test in probability. Thank god I passed the test because I really took time understanding the topic. During discussion of the topic kasi, nahihirapan pa akong makarelate kung paano sasagutan ng tama ang exercises. The test papers never shown to us but my friends in Moseley told me that he was the checker of my paper and that I got 36 yata or 33. basta! I am really very glad to be informed about that, and he even said “okay na nga yung nakuha mong score eh, marami kayang mababa ang nakuha dyan. Even below 20!” if I’m not mistaken, over 40 yata yun or 45. That’s one of my happy moments talaga

Discouraging moments
Who else will be feeling very disappointed kapag nalaman mong ang summative test mo’y sobrang baba.. yes.. sobrang baba.. as in below 10. if I had my happy moment in my summative test this quarter, of course may discouraging moment din. The result of the my summative quarter last first quarter is only 8.. 8 out of 40 items..all I remember is that the day I took the test, I was not in good condition. Still I tried answering the test up to the last minute. Inabutan na nga kami noon ni mam. They will also be using the room after our period. But I guess having a bad mood before a test also affects your thinking condition. Tulad nga noong nangyari sa akin. But though it was my most discouraging moment in this subject, I think it also served as a teacher for me.

If I were the teacher
First I will discuss the topic of the dayand our main goal for studying that lesson. While discussing, expect for some instances, students might intervene by suggesting other ideas or formulas. And so, I would set a time for entertaining those suggestions this way not only that my students learn the subject but also me as the teacher, after that, time for them to ask questions regarding on the areas which may be complicated. After assuring that everything’s clear, then I may then start having my exercises, games as challenge for them. This way, they will be encouraged to understand and give their full concentration on every item I would give. And also, sometimes give hard questions because the talent or the knowledge of a person sometimes is just being discovered when they are challenged and they learn how to resolve it.
